Introducing...

...The newest member of our family.  Captain Charlie Carter, or Charlie, for short.

You can imagine that there's a little obessesive compulsive behavior going on at our house.  I'm not talking about hand-washing or vacuuming.  I'm talking about puppy-holding.  I think this puppy might forget how to walk and end up like the humans in Wall-E, his transport being the arms of four adoring children.

Even Ben and I are smitten.

You know how I can tell?  Twice during the night, and at seperate times, Ben and I answered the whimpering cries of a puppy missing his mother.  I lay beside him on his snuggly blanket stroking his back, rubbing behind his ears, as I sang, "I Am A Child of God."

I didn't know what else to do.  He was like another one of my kids.  Singing always worked with them:).  The interent didn't prepare me for a homesick pup.  It nearly broke my heart.  All I could think about was Sam, and how he'd feel being taken from me.

Hopefully we can love him enough that his pain eases with time.  We certainly have an abundance of love to offer.  Too much, in fact.

I am now qualified to truly answer the question: is there anything cuter than puppies and babies?  I think not.

I think those labs are the best family dogs ever. (of course I've never had experience with anything else.) It's the sweetest thing to watch your little ones with a dog, I think.

Oh Lanette! Your life overwhelms me! We've been playing with 10 golden retriever puppies across the street and now my kiddos are smitten. I am officially the meanest mom because I am not ready to go down that road. Way to go!!
