The Great Wall of Whiteness.

I've been collecting white plates for about a year or so.  Thrift stores, TJ Maxx, Ross, Downeast Home . . . my usual stomping grounds.  I finally had a collection to run with.

Ben laughs, "They're ALL white plates."
"I know (sigh), isn't it beautiful?"
"Um, . . . whatever you say, Netty."

Men are from Mars, Women . . . .

I didn't need his approval, although I DID need his handiwork.  I treaded carefully, praise oozing from my lips.  "Thank you, Honey."  "I'm sooo grateful you'd stay up and help me with this."  "You're the best husband a gal could ask for," etc.  All true with a whole lot more sap.  He obliged, bless his heart (seeing right through me, I'm sure, but being sweet nonetheless . . .).

I learned from a blog (I can't remember which) to:
1. Trace your plate pattern/layout onto butcher paper or packing paper.
2. Measure the distance from the edge of the plate to the hanger on the back.  Mark the paper accordingly.
3. Tape the paper on the wall where you want the plates.
4. Hammer the nails through the paper where you made your marks in step 2.
5. Remove paper and voila, all the nails are plate-ready.
6. Sit back and enjoy your beautiful plate wall.

I loved waking up this morning to something fresh and new.  I need to spruce up the desk area, declutter the paper bin, add a lamp or vase or something with a splash of color.  In doing all this white I've realized that I love color.  Too much white isn't fun.  I'm discovering ways to add color here and there.  I'm feeling more true to myself.  It's all a process of discovery.  I love discovering truths about myself.  It's an adventure, all taking place within the walls of my own home.  Kind of fun, in a homebound sort of way.  I don't see a trip to Belize in the near future, so I've got to make due, right?  Belize, schmaleeze, where is that place, anyway?  (Okay, I just googled it.  Central America.  Carribean coast.  I only thought of Belize because the theme song, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" was stuck in my head.)

p.s. the arrangement may seem a little high.  Our white moldings (coming soon) will fall a couple of inches below the plates.  So, when we're done, it will all look polished and, well, not so high:).
