Emeril Lanette-i

I'm grateful I don't take myself too seriously.

I was surprised, terrified, and embarassed when Raymonda Furness, our local food columnist, asked me to be the featured cook for the easter edition of the newspaper.  Now, lest you are misled, I am no a-la-gourmet chef.  My cooking is a series of family favorites, friends favorites, and a little experimentation.  I'm as regular as they come.  However, I do LOVE great food and I do LOVE food that presents well.  I've picked up some pretty great recipes over the years.  It was kind of fun to feel important as a contributor to the world of food--a world I love--if only for an hour or so.

As proof of my fallible-cooking nature I offer the latest major flop: Grandma Gee's homeade noodles.  I forgot the rules for successful noodles, aka rolling them out thin...really thin.  I was lazy.  My family had a good laugh over these monstrosities.  I made them eat those ugly noodles...and probably constipated them for a week.

I'll try to post the article next week.  In the meantime, I'm getting my sharpie ready for autrographs...you know...just in case.

I'll take one autographed copy please. By the way, I want to look through your recipies sometime, and I wanted to do that before I even knew you were going to become a celebrity. On, and when life settles a bit for you lets make the flower hair clips. I want to feel springy! See you tomorrow for the service and the lunch. Man only seeing you once during a week is not enough, my Lanette take is on empty and I'm starting to stutter...oh, I meant sputter. See, don't you miss me too.....

Have you been featured yet? We just stopped getting the paper, but I'd love your recipes.

I know the flop feeling. Most of my experiments are edible and some are actually really good. But every now and then.............let's just say I've had to throw a few things out!
