Mini-Me

Annie found my Mother's scarves...I watched her pull them out of the drawer and completely flashed back to my childhood. My Mother's scarves were some of my favorite play-things. I remember holding them, draping them across my shoulders, tying them around my neck and head. Sometimes, I'd just lay them out, because they were so pretty and fringed and beautiful.

In my little-girl memory, my mom always looked beautiful. I'd sit in her bathroom and watch her get ready- curling her hair, perfume, putting on make-up, especially her blue eye shadow, giving herself a manicure, ironing her pants (which she always wore with a slight heel), and coordinating everything...jewlery, purse, scarves, etc. She was always put together. My Mom was just right. She never overdid it, never gaudy, always...classy. I guess I'm a little more rough around the edges. And that's okay with me. I'm thrilled that Annie has discovered my Mom's class. I smile inwardly every time I catch Annie by my Mom's side, trying on jewlery, watching her put on her eyeshadow (it's brown, now). And there's always the scent of my Mother when Annie runs to me, later.

Oh, that is so cute. I will forever remember you mom just like you said "all put together." I always remember how perfect her fingernails were. Perfect shape, perfectly polished...perfect!

You and your mother both seem classy all the time. You write such beautiful memoirs with each blog.

That's so sweet and so cute! It reminds me of getting into my mom's high heels all the time when I was little and prancing around. How fun!
