"Keep on Keepin' On"

Yesterday was one of those days when you're glad it's over. I've been telling myself each morning, "Today is going to be a GREAT day!" And it was...at first. By late afternoon I was ready to cash in my chips! When I feel this way I head to the piano. It's therapeutic to play and sing (grateful that no one, except my kiddies, can hear). Well, I played a song whose words put things in perspective (once again...I always need "perspective" reminders).

She is not the picture on the magazine
She's the woman just behind you in the check-out stand.
She may appear to be common but she mystifies
In all the ways that wisest men and children understand.
'Cause she has eyes that sparkle with her love
And she has a smile that's as gentle as a dove
And no woman in a movie or an ad
Could ever hope to be
As beautiful as she.
She is not a highly honored diplomat
Held responsible to lead the world to peace.
But what she does is every bit as serious
Amidst the turmoil everywhere that will never cease.
'Cause she has hands that wipe the tears away
And she has a voice that makes everything okay
And no woman from the papers or TV
Could ever hope to be as indispensible as she.
She may not be known for giving millions
To the charities and auctions on the news
But I believe she's given more than anyone
On all the times she's ever had to choose
To give up sleep and rock her children every night
And give her heart to always hold their dreams so tight
And the best that you and I could ever hope to be
Is as wonderful as she.
I might not make a world of difference, but within my sphere of influence (thanks, Mr. Covey) I am making an indispensible difference. That's something to cling to. I can smile, and love, and wipe tears, and heal. When I look at my kids, really look at them, I know that that's enough for me. Once again, I'm all filled up...ready to keep on movin' forward. Now, if I could just figure out the rest of my life...

Lanette, I just have to tell you that I think you are such an amazing person. Watching you I know you are an excellent mother! You also have a heart of gold. There aren't many people in my life that I really would like to just be around because they are so amazing...but, you are one of them!! I truly mean that! Since life NEVER seems to settle down so we can get together, at least we can keep in touch this way!
Love you!

I just sang this song last year at womens conference! I love it. I cried through the last verse.

ok, that was lovely. But I missed the part in the first paragraph about "cashing in." and had to reread this post three times before I figured out what the "chips" were for!
(mommy needs a break, VEGAS BABY!)
