Helping Hands...

I'm amazed at what we can do with a little effort and big hearts.  We teamed up with a neighboring cub scout troop trying to earn money and take donations for humanitarian hygiene kits for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Tonight we put the kits together.  They consisted of 2 towels, 2 combs, 4 toothbrushes, 1 tube of toothpaste, and 2 bars of soap.

The miracle of it all was how many kits we assembled, how much money was raised.  It brought tears to my eyes thinking about these little boys learning to give of themselves to help people they'd never met.  They raised/earned over $1000.  We had the money to assemble kits that would help approximately 920 people!  I was shocked.  I was planning on a couple hundred.  O, ye of little faith.

I was reminded that even the littlest of people--people like you and me--can make a difference in this world.  We can.  And the beauty of it all is that even if we just help ONE person, we've made a difference.  We give to help others, yet we come away with so much.  In losing ourselves, we find ourselves.  Too true.  I'm so grateful Brigham and I could do this together.  It certainly won't be the last time.

Okay I am laughing right now because of your sweet poem and Annie's new "Do". I love how the "culprit" is hiding in the back...too cute. What a nice thing the scout troop did and great lessons to be taught. Good job Brigham! :)
