Threaded and dangerous...

What did you do this weekend?

I was busy, but not with the Superbowl.
I was busy being thrifty.

Over the past year, I've built up quite a stock of jeans with holes.
As a mother of 3 boys, it's a given.  Got Jeans, got holes.
If a pair got a hole, it was relegated to the guest room until further notice.
They added up too fast.  I couldn't ignore them anymore.
I laid them out, all 14 pair, and got to work.  Brigham even helped.

BUT, that's not all.

I sewed the gaping holes on each side of Brigham's coat.
I altered the cutest dress I found at a thrift store.

It was quite a busy Saturday night.  I felt so domestic.
It was actually fun.  I never considered myself a "project" person--going to the store and buying it was great for me.  Funny the things we learn to enjoy out of necessity.

Nice! I've been "planning" to get a sewing machine for like 3 years now...someday I will be all domestic like you :o)

Kathy, I have to admit something TOTALLY embarassing. TOTALLY. Okay, as you can see in the picture, I was all geared up to sew. I'd learned that the iron-ons didn't stay on very long after washing. So, I was going to sew them after I ironed them. I had big dreams of totally cool patches, but that went out the window b/c I'm NOT DOMESTIC. Here's the embarassing part: I ironed on the patches, then tried to sew around them. Heh, how do you turn jeans around in a circle on a sewing machine without sewing the whole leg shut? Unless I did it by hand, I don't know if it can be done. Well, it probably can, but I'm NOT DOMESTIC, so, I ironed them on and . . . left them like that. Nice one, Lanette. I know. I figure my sewing the coat and dress earned me MAJOR DOMESTIC POINTS. So, if you figure it out, teach me, okay?
