Ordinary Acts...

Speaking of "ordinary acts," (see previous post), we had Ben's parents visit us a few weekends ago.  They are workers.  Serious workers.  When his dad's here, it's all about jobs.  This visit was tree trimming, tree burning, etc.

It became a family affair and I'm happy to say that it only took a few minutes for certain children to stop whining and start enjoying the work.  There's a different feeling when a family works together or volunteers together versus just having fun together.  Don't get me wrong.  We LOVE fun (usually more than work).  It's just different, in a good way.

My kids are pyros.  Fire-lovers.  What kid isn't?  We couldn't keep them away, so we joined them.  We had a humongous bonfire of tree branches which led to roasting marshmallows and tinfoil dinners later that day.  Amazingly, the only mishaps were Ben's singed eyebrows and a little burn on his hand.

By day's end we smelled AWFUL, smoke and sweat.  However, we were smiling...together, which means success in my opinion.
