A zit for love...

The things we do for love.  Ben, Lincoln, Annie and I went to McDonald's for lunch.  That was our incentive for behaving like angels while we finished up our Christmas shopping.  For those of you who don't use bribery in your parenting, well, I salute you.  We were so tired when we got home.  Annie was ready for a nap.  I was ready for a nap.  I took her up to her room and snuggled beside her.

Here's the part that took every ounce of self-control.  We lay on our sides, noses touching.  Annie's sucking her thumb, I'm singing Christmas songs with my eyes closed (hoping she'll follow my lead).  Part way through "Silent Night" I feel something.  Annie's sweet, soft, little hand is stroking my face.  Normally, I would have melted at the absolute cuteness of the situation.  This time was different.  All I could think about was the fact that Annie had just finished eating her french fries two minutes earlier.  I imagined all the oil from her fat, little fingers being spread all over my face!  I was cringing inside.  I had to clench my fists and keep them under the covers to keep myself from brushing her hand away.  She was loving me, so tenderly.  How could I deny her the opportunity of loving her mommy?  I just couldn't.  I said a silent prayer that the Lord would spare me the zits that were sure to come.  Only time will tell.  I better scrub a little longer tonight.

Hillarious and relatable! You are better than I. I have been faced with these situations and I always stopped the intruder before the damage was done:) Although it has almost always been my husband. I would probably feel different if it we the sweet face of one of my babies.
