I'm past the point of thinking that family home evening will consist of sweet, quiet, sedate children anxiously awaiting a gospel feast taught by Yours Truly.
However, I must admit that when a Monday night runs smoothly (relatively speaking), when I can see one of my kids, for even the briefest moment, look at me, intently, like he's really trying to work through things in his little brain, I call for rejoicing! I felt that tonight.
I'm a true convert of consistency. I used to want perfection--quite the stumbling block--but four kids quickly put me in my place. I try and try, through chaos and crisis, and hold to my faith that consistency will pay off.
I'll take whatever small successes I can get. And be grateful.

Each family prayer, each episode of family scripture study, and each family home evening is a brushstroke on the canvas of our souls. No one event may appear to be very impressive or memorable. But just as . . . strokes of paint complement each other and produce an impressive masterpiece, so our consistency in doing seemingly small things can lead to significant spiritual results.

Amen! I can probably truly count on my fingers how many of those moment we've had but it sure is wonderful when you get them!
I love the last 3 posts! (also, I'm diggin' Annie's hair cut and the new blog layout...it's all so great!) So many things to think about. I love the Where's William post...your boys are always so full of it. The pics are great, too. what fun memories you are creating!
I loved that talk too. I always love to hear Elder Bednar & remember him saying that so much. Our families will remember that they HAD FHE, prayer, scripture study, etc. not necessarily those moments...but that they always HAD it. Those will be habits ingrained in their life. The wonderful moments you were talking about is just icing on the cake. :)
